THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Do it your way!

Are you looking for a fun and creative way to do a bucket load of good for the Salvos?

Hosting your own "Do it Yourself" fundraiser can be a great way to get involved and make a difference this Red Shield Appeal. Whether you want to shave your head, dye your hair, or get crafty, the possibilities are endless.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

Shave Your Head

Brave the shave and raise funds for a good cause. Set a fundraising goal and ask your friends, family, and colleagues to support your challenge. You could even livestream your shave to increase awareness and encourage more donations!

Color Your Hair

Add a pop of color to your hair and raise funds for charity. You could choose a bold color or even create a rainbow effect, and ask for donations from your supporters. You could even hold a vote for the color you should dye your hair to add some fun to the challenge.

Organize a Cook-Off

Do you have a secret recipe that everyone raves about? Organize a cook-off and invite your friends and family to compete for the title of best dish. Participants can pay an entry fee, and attendees can make a donation to sample the delicious creations. You could even ask a local restaurant or chef to judge the competition for added excitement.

Give up something

For better or for worse, we all have small habits we engage in each day. Maybe yours is daily coffee or a sweet treat.
Give up something you'd find it hard to go without for a month and encourage your networks to support your efforts with their donations. Who knows, you can even attempt to kick a bad habit this way!

DIY Game Night

Host a game night fundraiser and invite your friends and family to join in. Choose a variety of games, such as board games or card games, and charge an entry fee or ask for donations from attendees. You could even have a tournament and offer prizes for the winners.

Create Your Own Challenge

Get creative and design your own fundraising challenge. Whether it's living on a limited budget for a week, doing a certain number of random acts of kindness, or even writing a novel in a month, choose a challenge that aligns with your interests and abilities. Set a fundraising goal and ask for donations from your supporters.

FUNDRAISING TIPS

Once you’ve created your page and started your fundraiser, there are some things you can do to make it even better. Here are a few nifty tips we’ve put together to make sure you put your best fundraising foot forward...

MAKE THE FIRST DONATION It's always a great idea to kick-start your fundraiser by donating to yourself! Your commitment to the cause will be an encouragement to others and make them keen to get involved.
ADD BLOG POSTS Keep your supporters updated on your progress via the Blog Post area on your profile. You can add stories, pictures and videos about you, your ‘why’, and also to show gratitude to everyone who has supported you! Get creative and have fun.
SHARE, SHARE, SHARETo give your fundraiser the best chance for success, spread the message far and wide using the ‘share’ icons on your profile page. You can encourage donations and support by letting your friends and family know what you are doing and why. Also, don’t forget to share with your wider networks at work, school or your local community groups. Be persistent by sharing regularly as some may donate right away, but others might need a little nudge.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, SAY THANK YOU! As more of your supporters get behind you, be sure to thank them publicly, and continue to share the progress you make towards your goal. These updates will keep your supporters engaged and invested in your success.
